Jenny Sterlin
 Jenny Sterlin

At the age of eight, Jenny Sterlin knew she wanted to be an actress. Born in England, the first play she watched was Peter Pan in a London theater. From that point, she was determined to devote her life to the stage. She joined a children’s theater group and auditioned for every school play. After high school, Ms. Sterlin spent two years at the Birmingham Theatre School. The program was a rigorous one, filling her days with scene study, speech work, singing, ballet, tap, fencing, makeup, theater history, and even vaudeville.
In the years since this training, Ms. Sterlin has been active in every aspect of the theater. She has performed on stages in England, Canada, and the United States. She also graduated cum laude from the University of Massachusetts and has designed many theater courses. In addition to acting, she has taught theater arts and has run several drama groups. When she started the Rubicon Theatre Company, Ms. Sterlin added producing and directing to her rapidly growing list of talents. Today, she continues to accept stage roles and teach acting courses. Look for her riveting narrations on both adult and children’s titles.

Average Narrator Rating: 4.50 (See Reviews Below.)
Here are some of the things others have said about Jenny Sterlin and the books narrated by Jenny Sterlin :
“Sterlin’s brilliant, mildly British-accented reading is perfect in pace, voicing of all the characters, mood, and atmosphere.”

fiveStar.jpg Characters and dialogue excel
(Review of Jenny Sterlin narrating Tara Road)
Jenny Sterlin’s interpretation of Maeve Binchy’s amazingly real characters is pure joy to listen to. Strong women, real kids, and less than perfect men bring a touch of familiarity to this tale of women coming to terms with the crises each faces.
The dialogue is completely genuine and you’ll find yourself getting caught up in the lives of all those who live on Tara Road - Reviewer from Portland Oregon

threeStar.jpg The Black Death, up close and personal
(Review of Jenny Sterlin narrating Doomsday Book)
A complelling look at the Bubonic Plague from inside the lives of the victims and survivors. The skeleton of facts, numbers of dead, impact on local and global economics fleshed out into beloved friends and family lost forever to a foe that could not be seen or withstood. Not to be missed! - Reviewer from Somerst County, PA

fiveStar.jpg One of my favorite books of all time.
(Review of Jenny Sterlin narrating The Beekeeper’s Apprentice)
Ive never been a big Sherlock Holmes fan, although Id read a couple of the short stories. But I ran across this book and fell in love with both Holmes and Mary Russell, so Ive had to go back and read more of the original stories by Conan Doyle. Ive generally thought that people who write books about another authors character were hacks with no ideas of their own, but I definitely dont feel that way about this series. Laurie King clearly knows the Conan Doyle stories and refers back to them in her own books, but these books are original and inventive and a lot of fun. I read a lot of books, and this is my second favorite series (after the Amelia Peabody books, also available from Recorded Books). - Reviewer from Somewhere in Darkest Utah

fourStar.jpg For fans of Sherlock Holmes, a great new set of adventures
(Review of Jenny Sterlin narrating The Beekeeper’s Apprentice)
I have read and loved the Conan Doyle mysteries since childhood. I stumbled across this by accident, and now am an enthusiastic fan. Mary Russell proves to be a wonderful assistant for Holmes - thoughtful, intelligent and more than a little competitive. It will be fun to watch this relationship grow. - Reviewer from Charlotte, North Carolina

fourStar.jpg Im hooked - a superb read
(Review of Jenny Sterlin narrating The Beekeeper’s Apprentice)
I rarely read new (new to me)authors but I intend to read more of this one. The time period and locale ring true. Holmes is more human and yet very much "Holmes". The writing is concise and never verbose. Couldnt put it down. - Reviewer from South Florida, USA

fiveStar.jpg A classic British mystery!
(Review of Jenny Sterlin narrating The Chimney Sweeper’s Boy)
I have read some Ruth Rendell over the years, but this book, written under the name Barbara Vine, was far superior to anything else by her that I have read. The mysterious life of Gerald Candless is probed by his daughter after his death. He was not who he claimed to be and the twists and turns which finally lead to the storys conclusion were mesmerizing. It was very long, but I kept finding excuses to get in the car to listen to it! Any lover of the true classic mystery will love it! - Reviewer from New Orleans, LA

fiveStar.jpg Another compelling read by Laurie King
(Review of Jenny Sterlin narrating Justice Hall)
The quality of this series never fails to impress. Although the title is a bit baffling, the content is not and will deliver lots of shocks and surprises. There is a satisfying amount of intrigue that weaves through numerous characters and locales. Dont miss this one. - Reviewer from City of Brotherly Love

fiveStar.jpg Overcame my doubts
(Review of Jenny Sterlin narrating The Beekeeper’s Apprentice)
As a Holmes fan I was extremely doubtful about this series. Halfway through the first CD my doubts vanished and I was hooked. The story is good enough to stand on its own, but having Holmes involved lends it a comfortable feeling. Having the story told from Mary’s point of view avoids the need to compare this story with the original stories. I would highly recommend this book for an entertaining and intriguing time. - Reviewer from Pennsylvania

fiveStar.jpg Mary Russell Series
(Review of Jenny Sterlin narrating The Game)
This author is a true artist who enjoys using well chosen words to paint intricate and thoroughly enjoyable tales. The main characters are worthy of building a long term relationship with by absorbing each book in the series. Its not surprising that she indicated the great Dorothy L. Sayers writing as a source of inspiration. The entire Mary Russell Series is masterfully enjoyable from beginning to end. - Reviewer from originally from NJ, now living in MT

fiveStar.jpg In a word, engrossing
(Review of Jenny Sterlin narrating Kissed a Sad Goodbye)
Wonderfully crafted, this volume in the series stands on its own with an amazing tapestry woven of all the characters lives. Very richly rendered, the details are wonderfully presented to give the reader a full sense of place and time, as well as personality. A truly satisfying read. - Reviewer from City of Brotherly Love

fiveStar.jpg Holmes and a Teenaged Girl?
(Review of Jenny Sterlin narrating The Beekeeper’s Apprentice)
You may well imagine my scepticism at the premise of this historical novel: a retired Sherlock Holmes meets and teams up with a teenaged girl. Hmmmm.... Oddly enough - it works! The adherence to the time period, the Holmesian attitude, the pace of the story - I think Conan Doyle himself would enjoy reading this book! Thanks Ms. King. - Reviewer from Floridas Suncoast

fiveStar.jpg Amazing In Every Way
(Review of Jenny Sterlin narrating Beyond a Wicked Kiss)
This is truly the best historical romance that I have listened to to date. The main characters are so easy to fall in love with. The story is both romantic and funny, and the love scenes are touching, honest and real. The narrator, Jenny Sterlin, does a truly amazing job of bringing these characters to life. As this was my introduction to Jo Goodman, I can’t help but wonder if I would have enjoyed the story half as much if I had read the book first or even had a different narrator. If you enjoy historical romances, this is a definite must listen. And although based on the main characters best friends and not himself, I’m very much looking forward to listening to the three other books in this series. - Reviewer from Sharon - Bradenton, FL

fiveStar.jpg Gripping
(Review of Jenny Sterlin narrating Doomsday Book)
Sometimes I find very long recorded books daunting for me, but the Doomsday Book kept me wishing for more walking and commute time. A historian sent back in time allows you to experience both the Black Death and a modern epidemic as parallel experiences. It was a truly fascinating book. - Reviewer from Arkansas
